Owen Harry Woodcock was born at Manganui Northland New Zealand 09 March 1918 and was a foundation pupil at the Omaunu School in 1923, located five miles from Kaeo up the Omauna Valley. Foundation pupils registered on the 25th June 1923 were :

After the epidemic of 1938 this school was closed.
At some stage Owen also attended Whangaroa North School and Matangirau Maori School.
From a farming background Owen worked in the butter factory at Kaeo, then to Otahuhu Railway Workshops, and then to Gordonton, working in the casein factory, Owen's sister Alice Majorie also lived not far away having married Francis James Wilson and farming on Peach Road Gordonton.
Owen finally moved from Gordonton to Morrinsville and built a house in which he lived until his death, Owen worked at the then Morrinsville or Lockerbie Dairy Company where he obtained his milk graders certificate and worked as a milkgrader till retirement.
Owen had a great love of things mechanical, and many a lawnmower or bicycle was rejuvenated by Owen in his well equipped workshop.
Other interests were photography, and travel.
Owen having travelled extensively around New Zealand. Australia, U.S.A and the U.K. were included in a trip with his second wife Joyce Lila (nee Nicholson)
Owen was also very proud of his grand and great grand children and many a grandchild can relate to the time and patience he spent with them, not to mention the boxes of toys he always had when they visited.
His interest also included the Woodcock family tree, and he kept a wealth information, newspaper cuttings, and notes he typed out. The foundation of this family tree was started with information he had gathered.
