I know very little of my Woodcock family history. All I know is my grandfather, Raymond Augustus Woodcock, Sr was born(?) in Savannah, GA. His parents apparantly owned a plantation and were quite wealthy. But when my ggrandfater died, my grand-mother, not knowing anything about money, turned the estate over to lawyers. Who inturn, stole everything. Becoming broke, she became a nurse to support the family. I THINK there were 2 other sisters besides my grandfather. They somehow moved to Wilmington, NC. I do know some of my ancestors are buried in one of the cemetaries in Savannah. Right after my mother married my father, she went to one of the funerals in Savannah.
My father's name is Raymond Augustus Woodcock, Jr. living in Charlotte, NC. He had 3 brothers...Maurice Woodcock, deceased in Raleigh, NC; Richard Woodcock, deceased in Wilmington, NC; and Rodney Woodcock living somewhere in GA.
If anyone has any other information on the Savannah connection, I would love to hear from you!

And I also have 2 brothers Timothy Bryan Woodcock, and Gregory Jack Woodcock, and a sister Shannon Leonard Woodcock all of Jacksonville, FL. Thanks!!!

Just thought I would join the Woodcock site as my Great Grandmother x 8 was Sarah Woodcock Born 1694 in Arlesey Hertfordshire England .Her father was John Woodcocke (no birth date ) who married Sarah Russe (again no birth details) 10/5/1688 in St Paul's Church Arlesey Herts . The only children I can trace so far are John (bpt 23/6/1688 ) Thomas bpt 20/9/1691 and my Sarah . She herself married Jeremiah Bailey 10/11/1720 in Arlesey but lived the rest of her life in Ashwell Herts and died and was buried there 7/1/1762. Are there still any Hertfordshire Woodcocks still living in the vicinity if so it would be great to hear from you.

Re my previous regarding Sarah Woodcock circa 1694 I must have had a 'senior moment' as Arlesey where she was born is not in Hertfordshire it is in Bedfordshire albeit that it is very close to the borders of the two counties although Ashwell where she died is in Herts . I shall now put things right by saying are there any ' Bedfordshire Woodcocks 'still out there?. Would love to hear from you.

I sort of came in through the 'back door' to join the Woodcock Family! My grandfather, Charles Woodcock, was the son of Edward Abraham Woodcock (1862) and Mathilda Kusch. Charles was unaware that a young lady he had a relationship with gave birth to his daughter in 1922. This daughter was my mother. I have met some of Charles' nieces and have been warmly welcomed by them. I will soon be sending information to add to the Family Lines.

My grandfather, John Haigh Woodcock was born c1876 in Barnsley. He was the son of William Woodcock, occupation: Sweep. His wife was Hannah, born c1844 in Barnsley.

John had the following brothers and sisters:

Jane born c1863
Elizabeth born c1865
Sarah Ann born c1869
James born c1871
Mary.E born c1874
Fred born c1880

John was a coal miner. He married Annie Hooper in 1898 at St John's Parish Church in Barnsley. He supposedly died c1921 in Staincross but I cannot confirm this as there are no records to support this.

Does anyone have anything that could help me?

Hello. I have some more information on the Woodcock family descended from Robert Woodcock. If you would like I'm sure I can show proof if that is what you need. I am also searching for information that would tell me who Robert Woodcock descended from. I did find out that there was a Sir John Woodcock who was Lord Mayor of London in 1405. I still have not been able to find a link to which of the Woodcocks he belongs to.

Anyway, just wanted to let that out.
Thanks, Thomas

There is a gedfile on worldconnect that basically explains the family line I have been following for Chesterfield Co., Virginia. My family began with Thomas Jefferson and Martha E. Taylor Woodcock of Chesterfield, can't find the direct connection with other Woodcock's of Va. Most of my info was found at the local library, the piece's have been slowly coming together. The file belongs to Richard L. King. "King Family"
