My Woodcock family are from Preston in Lancashire. Liverpool in Lancashire and the Isle of Man. The early Woodcock's worked in the cotton mills and 2 were photographers. Any help would be great.

Smith-Woodcock relationship--has anyone heard of this? Henry Woodcock of Tenn/Arkansas has a son named Riley Smith, and he is a neighbor in Marion Co.,Ark. to our family headed by Riley Smith. Coincidence? Doesn't look like it, does it! Would love to have anyone's opinion and help. Best wishes from Lubbock,Texas.

Have been researching family history. All links are with Kent, England and until recently all male members were either shipwrights or watermen - a glorified water taxi driver. Have positive line members from 1712 when Francis Woodcock was baptised. His father, also Francis, was a waterman and must have originated near parish of Deptford. But I cannot trace his records. Can anyone help. Slave for life if you can.

I'm trying to help my dad research his family history. His mothers maiden name was Nelly Woodcock and her father was Frank Woodcock of Mortlake born 25dec 1880 in Richmond, surrey,England.I would like to contact descendants of any of Frank's brothers or sisters in the hope that they might be able to fill in some gaps in the family tree. Frank's father was Edgar Woodcock born 16th May 1840 in Maidstone Kent.We have a lot of old photo's of The Woodcock side of our family but no means of identifying many of them.Although there are stories of the Kent Woodcock's visiting great-grandfather Frank, his wife Alice (maiden name Spice) apparently did not approve of them and contact with them was lost. My grandmother did not know any of her Woodcock cousins. It would be very interesting to re-establish that link after all these years.
