Looking for information on Laura Woodcock, who married John Emmart (abt 1865 in Baltimore, MD). They had three children: Charles Marshall, Alicia Margaret, and Irene (my g-grandmother). Irene was born 18 Jun 1866 and died 5 Mar 1893. I have been unsuccessful in learning anything about Irene. I know this is a stab in the dark, but if any of these names are familiar to ANYone, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Hi,

I am a Woodcock living in Australia. I know very little about my family tree history but have always wanted to get into it. I only know a one/two generations back (not sure how to count them) because my grandfather, Albert Edward Woodcock from England, wouldn't tell me about his/our family, names etc...nothing!!! He would always ask why I wanted to know, they were scoundrels, forget it, you're alive now think about the future not the past etc... My father is hopeless (I am not attacking his personality) at
remembering dates, names etc...

All I know is my grandfather had 8 or 9 brothers and sisters (or maybe 8 or 9 brothers plus sisters). Like I said he wouldn't let me know anything!!! His name was Albert Edward Woodcock, He married Elsie ? ? from Godleming (or Godelming), and they had a son John Albert Woodcock (my father) born 22 November, 1930 and a daughter Janet ? Woodcock (my aunt) now Janet ? Blake. My father was born in Farncombe, Surrey. He left England in 1948 to emigrate to Australia.

Not much to go on but where do I start? What do I do next? My grandmother died about 8 months ago and my grandfather (her husband), Albert Edward Woodcock, died just Sunday week past, 2/8/99 aged 95.

Any help would be most appreciated? Oh and I just remembered. I visited England 10 years ago and met one of Albert's brothers named Geoff ? Woodcock. He thought he had no family and was so excited to meet us. He told me one of his nieces (my father's cousin) emigrated to Australia too but he had no names etc...(not much help either). I'm not sure if he is still alive?

Thank you for your time and patience,

Regards,

Jaime Woodcock

Thanks so much for your helpful site. I have encountered
some gaps in the Barber and Smith and Deal families between
the late 1800's and the 1930's. I know the Barbers were in
northwest Ga and the Smiths I believe were in Northeast Ms.
There was a Clefton Smith with many children in northeast Ms.
in the 1950's but I don't have info before or after. If
anyone has seen any of these names, please let me know.
Thanks.

I'm trying to locate information on Clifton Woodcock from Washington State. He was married to _____Meyers (daughter of Vic Meyers, a former Lt. Governor of Washington---I'm not certain of the spelling of Meyers). Clifton had two daughters, Donna and Velma. I'm trying to ascertain whether a Donna Woodcock Rozzano is his granddaughter. She resides in Port Orchard. My father-in-law's mother was a Woodcock and would be (I believe) sister to Clifton. Can you help me? Thanks. We are trying to find out the ancestry of the Woodcocks to the present.

There seems to be plenty of Woodcocks around. If anyone is interested in the Woodcocks on the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, UK, I have a substantial database. Good page.
