Eva Belle was born Eva Belle Steele, June 4, 1876 in Cherokee, Cherokee County, Iowa, Daughter of Thomas Henry Steele and Eoline Martina Washburn.  After preparing for college in Cherokee High Schools she enrolled in Lake Forest University (now the University of Chicago) in 1896.  She graduated from Lake Forest on June 13, 1900 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin.  After graduation she taught both History and Latin in the High School at Tracy, Minnesota.  On August 17, 1905 she married Clarence Drury Allison in Cherokee, Iowa.  Eva Belle and C.D. Allison had three sons, Thompkins, Clarence Vincent, and Wesley.

At some time before 1914 Eva Belle began researching her family history, and that of her husband.  She was a Charter Member of the Pilot Rock Chapter of the DAR formed in November of 1914, serving as Vice-Regent, Chaplin, and Secretary through 1941.  The depth of her research, the diligence and attention to detail, performed with the absolute lack of any 'current' technology to accomplish the task, is both wonderful and incredible.  At first glance it is apparent that her efforts must be preserved - and that is the purpose of this web site.
